When StarCore Nuclear prepared to introduce its revolutionary helium-cooled Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology, the company wasn't simply launching a new energy solution, it was asking diverse audiences to embrace a fundamentally different way of thinking about nuclear power.

Success would depend on far more than engineering. It would require trust.
HCP partnered with StarCore to develop a strategic communications platform capable of educating Indigenous communities, investors, government officials, strategic partners, and future operators through one clear, compelling narrative rooted in transparency, respect, and shared opportunity.
The result was Powering Together, an award-winning documentary and communications platform that continues to support StarCore's outreach, education, and business development initiatives.

Every successful engagement begins with understanding the client's world.
Before discussing messaging, creative concepts, or production schedules, HCP immersed itself in StarCore's business, spending time with company leadership, nuclear engineers, and technical experts to understand not only how the technology worked, but why it mattered.
The team explored decades of engineering behind StarCore's helium-cooled reactor design while also gaining a deeper understanding of Canada's evolving clean-energy landscape and the unique role Indigenous communities would play in the future deployment of the technology.
Unlike many communications initiatives, this project wasn't designed to promote a product. It was designed to build understanding.
The documentary would become a trusted educational resource used during conversations with Indigenous communities, investors, government officials, strategic partners, and future operating organizations. Each audience brought different priorities, different questions, and different concerns.
Understanding those perspectives became the foundation for everything that followed.
Research meant much more than gathering facts.
HCP worked alongside StarCore's engineers and leadership to translate highly technical nuclear science into messaging that remained scientifically accurate while becoming understandable for non-technical audiences.
We studied the evolution of Small Modular Reactors, the advantages of helium-cooled technology, and the broader energy landscape while researching Indigenous perspectives, partnership models, and principles such as Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) to ensure communications reflected the values of transparency, respect, and collaboration.
By the time production began, we weren't simply telling StarCore's story. We understood it.
Rather than beginning with cameras, we began with a communications strategy. One of the first decisions was that the story should never be about nuclear technology.
It should be about people.
That thinking led to the creative platform Powering Together; a message intentionally centered on partnership, shared ownership, and community empowerment instead of engineering specifications. The strategy humanized an incredibly technical subject before introducing the science behind it.
The production strategy reflected that same philosophy.
Instead of transporting an entire film crew into Pinawa, a remote town in Manitoba, Canada, HCP designed a hybrid production model that combined authentic aerial footage and environmental imagery supplied through project partners with interviews filmed inside HCP's virtual production studio at the University of Tampa.
Using LED Volume technology, executives appeared immersed within the Canadian landscape while maintaining complete creative control over lighting, scheduling, and production quality. The result preserved authenticity while dramatically reducing travel, production complexity, and cost.
The finished documentary became much more than a film. It became the centerpiece of an integrated communications platform.
Designed as a trusted educational resource rather than a promotional video, Powering Together supported Indigenous community presentations, investor meetings, government discussions, strategic partnership conversations, conferences, websites, and future educational distribution.
Instead of leading with engineering specifications, the story emphasized people, partnership, stewardship, and the future of clean energy, helping audiences understand not only how the technology worked, but why it mattered.
Today, the documentary continues to support StarCore’s long-term communications efforts as a strategic business asset.
Developed a strategic communications platform, not simply an award-winning documentary.
Built trust through education before asking audiences to embrace a transformational technology.
Simplified one of the world's most technically complex energy solutions through clear, credible storytelling.
Supported engagement with Indigenous communities through thoughtful, culturally informed communications.
Strengthened communications with investors, government officials, strategic partners, and future operators.
Earned a 2026 Silver Telly Award (Documentary / Short Form) and 2026 Bronze Telly Award (Energy & Utilities).
Created a long-term communications asset that continues to support StarCore's outreach, education, and business development.
The most successful communications initiatives don't begin with creative ideas, they begin with understanding.
For StarCore, that meant listening before writing, learning before filming, and earning trust before asking audiences to embrace a new way of thinking about nuclear energy.
By combining thoughtful research, strategic planning, and human-centered storytelling, HCP helped transform a highly technical innovation into a conversation built on transparency, partnership, and shared purpose.
